Not much! We recommend that you take a look through our therapists’ profiles to see who resonates with you. Then, simply book a consult (or multiple) with therapists you might be interested in working with, and they will lead you through the call. We recommend that you bring any and all insurance information you have to the consult.

This is totally understandable, and it can feel like a lot of pressure to know what you “should” talk about in therapy. In therapy with True Resilience psychotherapists, we can talk about anything that’s been on your mind!
It’s your therapist’s job to track the themes and listen for patterns of dynamics that might be more interesting to explore further. And it’s your job is to bring in topics to talk about. Don’t worry about talking about things that don’t feel "worth talking about" in therapy- therapy is often exploratory and we often find the most important things in unexpected places.

Our therapists offer both in-person therapy (at our location at 30 Powerhouse St., Toronto, Ontario) and virtual video therapy services for Canadian residents living in Ontario, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Newfoundland and Laborador, Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
-
There’s no definitive answer as to whether virtual or in-person therapy is “better”- we know that both formats can be highly effective.
This choice really comes down to your own personal preference, which is why all our therapists offer both formats! In-person therapy allows more non-verbal communication and opportunities to build rapport, but virtual therapy can often be much more convenient and accessible for folks.
-
Virtual therapy sessions are held through a secure online platform, called JaneApp. The three things you need are: 1) a stable internet connection, 2) a private space where you can freely talk, and 3) a device to connect to sessions.

Our office is located at 30 Powerhouse Street, one block north of the intersection of Dupont St. and Lansdowne Ave.
When you arrive, scan the check-in QR code at the front desk to let your therapist know you’re here, and you can take a seat in the waiting area. When you are coming outside of regular business hours (M-F, 9-5), the front door of the building will be locked. Please email your therapist when you’ve arrived so they can come let you into the building.
When it’s wet or snowing outside, we ask that you leave your wet shoes at the door of your therapy room.
-
We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your session. If you cancel within 48 hours or miss your appointment time, you may be charged the full session fee.

Typically, it takes around 10-12 sessions to see major improvements. But again, there is no one-size-fits-all solution in therapy– everything is dependent on your specific goals and your specific circumstances! You and your therapist will craft an individualized treatment plan in the early stages of your therapy, so you know where you’re going and what you’re working towards.
If there’s no specific topic that is top of mind at the moment, it can still be helpful to connect with a therapist, so they can be ready to support you whenever more challenging circumstances arise in your life.
-
Our therapists integrate a variety of evidence-based approaches, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Psychodynamic Therapy.
